music reveiw of Aisa yeh jahaan

After a great trailer lots is expected from the music and I hope the music is as good as the trailer.

Sautela Sheher- This is one of the best songs of the year and Dr palash Sen has sung it perfectly. Abid Khan Langa's sufi in the middle is also soulful. The song has great lyrics and the whistle parts are also very nice to hear. Great start to an album and the song is near perfect. Lyrics are so good that one connects to the song instantly. Euphoria have started perfectly.

Haiyaa Ho- This song starts of with a typical Assamese tune and has smell of north east folk and that is great to see. It sounds like Papon's bihu naam and is another good song. Depicts Assamese culture really well and the singer has done a great job too so definitely worth a hear.

Lori (nanhi munni chidiya)- This song is a cute song and is easy on the ears and Indian Idol Junior winner Anjana has sung it well and the song is surely a fun listen and lyrics are also soulful and the song will gel in well with people who enjoy nursery rhymes and the tune is also very melodious and enchanting.

Title song- The song starts off with like a clock sound and this was the song in the trailer of the film like a church song and is a good listen and is a pretty situational number that will sound better when you watch the film. The lyrics are not so clear but the song is a good one.

Hey ya- This song again has a pretty Assamese feel to it and is really a great listen and Dr.Palash Sen stamps his authority here. Better than haiyaa ho and is really a good tune and a bit more upbeat than other songs.

We go party (everyday)- A party song finally some people may say. The song starts off with catchy beats and I do not understand what a party song is doing here. This song is not bad and annoying but not really bad and is a good club number.

This album is a great one by Euphoria and I am excited to watch the film after a great trailer and music album.

My picks- Sautela Sheher, Lori, Hey ya

music reveiw of Thani Oruvan (Tamil)

This is another album that I expect good from as Hip Hop Tamihza have always impressed me. Let us see if this is as good as their first 2.

Title song- This song is pure rock and is very westernized but can get boring after some time and hard to the ears. Not such a great start and the song gets too repetitive after some time that is not the signs of a good song. Let us move on to the next song.

Kannala Kannala- This song is much more promising and it is very rare for Hip Hop tamihza to make such a melodious number but this is not that bad and is a typical Tamil melody and is good to hear. After the first song which was rock a melodious song is always good to listen to. The table in the middle is very soulful and I wish we could hear more tabla in Indian music.Good decent song if not great.

Kadhal Cricket-  The song starts off like a child's nursery rhyme but the vocals of Kharesma really take this song to a different class level altogether. This is a song on cricket and is good for cricket fans like me. The western piece of clectic-like music in the middle is the highlight of this song. The song if not great is still listenable and not that bad.

Theenai Dhaan Vellum- This song may not be an idol song without the visuals it will gel in well with hatever story the film has as this song is really situational so not great without visuals one can skip it.

Aasai perasai- This song starts of with some sitar that is really good to hear and there is like a mini rap so the fusion of sitar and rap is really enchanting to hear. The song is like a SCi- fi song and is a good hear and will gel in well with people who like rap.

A very boring album by Hip Hop tamihza and this is not good after 2 good albums by them.

My picks- Kannala kannala, Aasai Perasai

music review of Shukriya (hindi)

This is another unknown album I am going to review and I do not have much hopes from it but let us see if it proves me wrong.

Purwaiyaa- The song starts off with a very groovy calypso type music and then enters the vocals and the song transforms into a masterpiece and the pause singing in the middle is really good to hear and the song gets better and better as it progresses and this is good to see and the backing vocals are also flawless. This song is like a celebration and will be remembered for a long time. Great start and the soona man part is so flawless that one will fall in love with it at first time only. Perfect start.

Title song- The song starts of with a very melodious tune and the Shradda Shree again sings this song flawlessly and the title song is so good that one will cherish it forever and the song has some really classy lyrics and the whole song gets better and better in the middle and this is rarely seen in new songs and this is great to see and the way Shradda says shukriya is lovely. Another great ballad.

Khuda Mere-  By the start of things this song seems to be a more pacy and upbeat number with some rock and the singer takes the song to a new level again and again great lyrics lift this song and this song feels like a tamil song of the early 2000s and is a bit more commercial than the other 2 songs but the middle gets better and this is a highlight of this album and the Sa re Ga ma Pa in the middle is great to hear. Great end to a perfect album.

This is one of the best of the years and has certainly challenged other great albums also . I would love to hear much more from Shradda Shree.

My picks- All 3

music review of Highway (Marathi)

This album has high expectations as it is Amit Trivedi's debut Marathi album and I am expecting really great piece of music.

Kangaroo-  The song starts of with a typical Amit Trivedi style and reminds of the masterpiece Ghanchakkar he made and then enter Benny Dayal's vocals and he after so long sounds good.   This song does not have full complicated Marathi words and one can understand most of the lyrics and the best part is at the start when the singer is like whispering. This song is a treat for Amit trivedi fans and this guy never fails to impress. Perfect start!!!!! The end of the song has disco beats that are so addictive.

Kalandar- The song starts of like Zinda from Lootera and then transforms into a fast and pacy tune and this song is a masterpiece and reminds me of tghe music of kai Po che. Great vocals and this song sounds like a feel good song and as if Amit Trivedi has himself sang it but it is not sung by him. The middle part of the song is great and some classy stuff from Mr Trivedi.

Pinjade Wale- This is just another version of Kalandar so it must be awesome as even the original was great.

Another masterpiece by Amit trivedi and just like his kai Po che 3 songs but all pitch perfect. He is the best musician in the world at the moment and I hope he continues making such lovely piece of music.

My picks- All 3

Music Review of bangistan

Lots is expected because the music is by Ram Sampath who is one of my favourite music composers.

Maula- This song is a really nice sufi song and it will surely gel well with fans of sufi music and I really liked it. Lyrics are also good and Ram Sampath has sung it well and it is a good song about god. There is a great use of Tabla and that is really good to see. Surely a worth listen.

Meri Zidd- The song starts off with a lovely piano piece and then the song becomes a masterpiece and the singer has done an excellent job and after that enters the shock. A fast rock drum piece comes an becomes a rock song. Ram Sampath at his best here. He just loves making experimental music and this is an example of it. Great song.

Hogi Kranti- The song starts with off like a nursery rhyme song and the song is a great fusion of mann main vishwas and Celtic-music and that is amazing. The song does not have good lyrics but the song is really good. I am addicted to it.

Is duniya se ladna hai-  The song starts off with like a Ganpati music then goes into full rock and may not be impressive as the previous songs but a good listen after all but one can easily skip it. Nothing special just a number that will be understood better when the film releases.

Saturday Night- The song is just a party song but not a typical one and it is one with ram sampath touches that make it a listenable song and not an annoying one. A good party number after some time.

Ishq karenge- This song looks really good visually but not when you hear it. It is the only weakling of the album and one can easily give it a skip.

Another very experimental album by Ram Sampath. His Delhi Belly was one of the best albums and this almost reaches to that level.

My picks- Hogi Kranti, Maula, meri Zidd

music review of Thoda Lutf Thoda Ishq

I do not expect a lot from this album seeing the title and a new composer but I still think this album can surprise me.

Mera pyaar hai Maggi jaisa- This is one of the worst songs I have heard in the recent times and the lyrics are crazy. the lady says her love is like maggi and one will get it instantly. This song is so annoying that yours ear drums will start crying. Just skip it.

Pyaar Hua Jab tujhse- This is a simple love song and sung really well by Mohammed Irfan and this song is a welcome one after the torture of the first song. This is peaceful and one can sway with the music instantly and is a decent listen. One should listen to this and I am sure they will like it.

Bawri Pooch Pool Party- Although this is a party song but I did not find this annoying at all. I infact enjoyed it and it is a really fun song. One would think this is sung by Mika but instead it is sung by Raja Sagoo. This song is not good but it is really fun and one can listen to it when in a bad mood.

Title song- Another peppy song but Labh Janjua is the singer so one can expect a lot. The song is really boring but it is saved by the vocals of Labh Janjua . Apart from the good singer, this song is really bad and annoying. I would rather listen to better Labh Janjua songs than this.

The album is a big letdown and only one good song and that is not good.  More melodious songs should have been included.

My picks- Pyaar Hua jab tujhse

Rating- 1 out of 5

Music review of Massan

My aim to continue to explore new music continues with Massan and let me see if this time it works because last time this backfired.

Tu kisi Rail Si- This is surely a masterpiece and Swanand Kirkire's vocals are perfect in this song. It is a really simple song and nothing complicated and that is what has impressed me a lot about this song. A very hummable song and Kirkire has sung this song as if he is singing the song of his life. Full emotions and the song is just a classy affair and much better than the love songs we hear these days. This is just how a song works so well when you just keep things so simple. A sure listen.

Mann Kasturi- The song starts off with a lovely piece of piano and then the song turns into another classy ballad and is a really a very emotional song sung extremely well by the singers and is surely a song that will be in my songs list rather than the over-hyped songs of Roy or ABCD 2. This song is just a song that engrosses listeners and very easy and peaceful on the ears and the singers have sung this perfectly. I am really impressed by this piece of music.

Bhor- The song has bit of Rajasthani folk flavour and that is what gets you hooked up really fast. This song is surely a celebration and one will love it instantly. This is what I call music and not the noisy party music we hear these days . The songs that talk about not getting a friend or about the sun setting and party starting are boring ( you know which ones I am talking about). This is the type of songs people should listen to more. The high pitch vocals are perfect and the part talking about the panchi and gagan is just breathtaking.

Great album by band Indian Ocean and this album is one of the best of the year. It is just a short and sweet album with 3 songs but is a classy one and will be loved by all and vocals are also very strong.

My picks- all 3

Review of Coke studio- Ram Sampath

Another Coke studio episode so another guaranteed 3 or 4 good songs one can hear to .Let us see whether Ram Sampath has also made interesting music like others or not.

Rangbati- The song starts off with some drum beats and people will think it is a rock song but when Sona's excellent vocals enter it becomes an Assamese folk song and the song continues on with folk with some keyboard in the middle but the song is just a lovely folk song that one will fall love with easily. Great start!!!!

Chadh Chadh Jana- My favourite of the four songs. The song starts off with a drum then goes into folk and this is intense folk. Rural folk at its best. One will think they are attending a ceremony in a village of Haryana. The song is a great composition with the background vocals adding a lot to the song. Bhanvari Devi has really sung the song perfectly. May not appeal to some people but it is a treat for folk music lovers. Even Krishna Kumar Buddha Ram has sung his part well.

Ahnad Naad- Another really strong song .Another song that uses drums really well and it is a bit more peppy song and is a song that should appeal to everyone and it is a perfect song to be honest. One can sway with the music, tap their feet and also close eyes and enjoy the music. Sona Mohapatra has sung this beautifully again and this album shows us her versatility. She has sung a Rajasthani and Assamese folk song so she is surely one of the best singers out there.

Bharatiyar Trap Rap- This is the most experimental song of the episode and I loved it. The song starts off with some piece of classical music maybe Carnatic and then a Tamil Rap. Can you believe it tamil rap?? I have never heard a Tamil rap before. The rap is very fast and the enters some very soulful Carnatic music. This song is a Carnatic classical song and people who love fusion of rap and classical music will love it. Really good piece of music.

This episode is a great one and Coke Studio is just getting better and better. Ram Sampath has shown his range. He has Assamese folk, Rajasthani folk, Haryanavi folk and Carnatic classical song all in one album. Impressive stuff.

My picks- All songs

Rating- 4 stars out of 5

Music review of second hand husband

After seeing Gippy Grewal in action I was excited to listen to this album and I expect a lot from this album due to his versatility. Let us see if he lives up to my expectations.

Mitthi meri Jaan- It starts off with a total unexpected tune as I was expecting a song about patriotism after seeing the title but the song starts off with a total Bhangra sound. The vocals start off with the female sounds of Jasmine Sandlas. After her terrible debut in the annoying Yaar na Mile, this is a great improvement and this song will surely top music charts and it is an instant hit. Great start!!!!!

Jawaani Din Chaar- Labh Janjua is one of the best singers out there and this time he impresses yet again and this song is a typical Punjabi party song and is really foot-tapping and addictive. Yet another great song and surely a hit.

Title song- The song starts off with a typical Punjabi pop song of about 4 or 5 years ago and then becomes a typical Gippy Grewal song and surely gets you moving. Although not so impressive as the 2 above but surely a good listen.

Bad Baby- The song starts off with a youthful party tune and then enters Badshah and carries the song on his shoulder. The song is very unique and has like a nursery rymhe type tune and is a song that gets you irritated after sometime but will grow on you after sometime.

Channa- This song is a boring listen and just a basic female wedding Punjabi song and Sunidhi Chahaun spoils the song even more. Just skip it as it is the weakling of the album.

Rabb jaisa- The best song in terms of quality in the album. The song is like a fusion of church music and sufi music. The song is surely a song for people who enjoy meaningful music and Ravindra has sung it with full emotions.

A very fun and peppy album although would have preferred at least 2 more slow numbers as there are too many dance numbers.

My picks- Rabb Jaisa,Mitthi Meri Jaan, Jawaani Din Chaar

Rating- 3.5 starts out of 5

music review of Guddu Rangeela (Amit Trivedi)

I am expecting a lot from this album due to it being Amit Trivedi's album and he is the most reliable music director at the moment. I really expect this to please all listeners.

Mata Ka email- This is the only non Amit Trivedi track in this album but still is not that bad although weaker than the other tracks. This is just a timepass song and just one without any motive and just to make the audience laugh.

Titlle song- The song starts off with a very peppy sound and then becomes a typical Amit Trivedi song and the song resemble Amit Trivedi's song Wakda from Aiyaa and maybe Allah Meherbaan from Ghanchakkar and this song is a must listen and shows why Amit Trivedi is the best because he can make both classy and massy music without it being annoying.

Sahebaan- This song starts off like an Udaan type sound and after comes the unexpected and comes some Western sounds and comes Chinmayi Sripada's melodious vocals and this track is surely one of the best songs of the year and Shahid Mallya also sings well and the end is the best with the song going into a typical Amit Trivedi mode.

Sooiyan- This is Arjit Singh's best song after Taankhe Jaankhe for sure and this has impressed me immensely. It starts off with guitar sounds and then enters Arjit's improved vocals and this song is really  fresh and you can easily sway with the tunes. Very impressive song. Good lyrics too.

This album is really great and Amit Trivedi shows us why he is the best composer because he can make both massy and classy music at the same time. This album will have a lasting impact on the listeners.

My picks- Sahebaan, Title song, Sooiyan

My rating- 4 stars out of 5

review of sardarjii (punjabi film)

This is the first Punjabi album I am writing the review for and I may not understand all the lyrics as Punjabi is not my language. Sardarjii is an album I am expecting a lot from the main reason being that almost all songs are sung by Diljit Dosanjih and he has never disappointed me and I hope he will not here.

I love U ji- The song starts off completely different from my expectations. I was expecting this to be a cheezy and peppy song but it starts off with a very slow and melodic tune which was totally unexpected. Then the song becomes a typical Diljit song and Diljit is a great actor and singer so this song is a winner and I loved this song.

Roku Keda- This song starts off with  typical punjabi drums and then comes the only non Diljit song and this would have been so better if Diljit sang it but it is still a fun song with still Punjabi traditional sounds in it. Overall a decent listen.

Sardarjii- The song starts off with some Bhangra music and then comes Diljit's powerful vocals and after listening to this song, anyone would want to get up and start dancing but after sometime the song may get repetitive and it is a title song and title songs are generally repetitive. I loved the whisper vocals at the end.  Diljit saves this song from being boring.

Taare Mutiyaare- This song is the best song of the album .It starts off with some soulful peace of music and then takes us to the sounds of the green fields of Punjab and Haryana. This song is a beautiful one and Diljit handles it excellently as if it is tailor made for him but even Hardy Sandhu would have been a good choice for this song. An excellent song and you should keep this one on loops.

Time- This is just a routine Punjabi song with nothing new but I am such a big fan of Diljit that even if he sings the same thing again and again I will still love it. This song has the same Bhangra sounds in the background and I will be waiting to see this on big screen when I watch this film in theatre. You can wait for the movie to listen to this.

Veer Vaar-  This is one of the strongest tracks of the album and instantly makes an impact even with the start tune and then becomes a likeable track with Diljit's vocals again making a striking impact. This song is a cool listen and I think a really good end to an impressive album.

This album was very good. Although songs were not so great but still Diljit's singing has taken this album to a different level and his acting will take these songs to a different world. A must listen for Diljit fans.

My picks- I love U ji, Taare Mutiyaare, Veer Vaar

music review of saiya daru bajj (bhojpuri)

This is the first Bhojpuri album I am going to review and when listening to Bhojpuri songs I recommend people not to look for any quality and class otherwise you would hate every song. Let us see how Saiya Daru bajj fares.

Saiya Daru bajj- This song starts off with a typical Bhojpuri start and then goes into full masala mode and instantly enters your head and like every Bhojpuri song it is very addictive and you feel like listening to it constantly. A really enjoyable song and it will leave a smile on your face.

Bhatar Jab Bahre Bani- This song starts off with like a typical village song as if some local village ceremony is going on and is a perfect dance song although this is a bit mellowed down than the first song. This song is also really addictive and overall a good listen and this is the second song of the album that has only 2 songs.

Overall this album is an example of short and sweet and some albums are short and sweet and kai po che was an example of short and classy and this is short and massy. Will go on well with people who enjoy Bhojpuri music.

My picks- both songs

Music review of Uvaa (hindi)

This movie is very unknown and I just am reviewing it because I want people to know more about new and unknown music. These are not songs you will hear in your cars or malls and that is the aim of my blog to get to know more about unknown music myself and make others also aware. Let us see if this was worth reviewing or not.

Ishq Fobiya- This song starts off with a typical guitar sound then comes the innocent flute. Mohammed Irfan sings this melody really well. I liked this song because it reminded me of one of my favourite songs called Arziyan from a film called Jigariyaa. Although this song is not that good as that but surely the same type. I would not say an average song but not a great one either.

Jiyo Lalla- This song is an example of a headache inducing song which literally has no other motive than making listeners cry and bang their heads on walls and pillars. Talking of this song is giving me headache. Let us just move on.

Vade Mataram- Just giving songs patriotic titles does not make them good. This song is another torture with just the singer blabbering. Please skip this.

Natani- This song is the most exciting and addictive song and I am in love with it. It starts with, like a music that comes in exhibitions and contests in malls here in Singapore and then the addictive music is complemeted well by the addictive beats and this song is a fun ride and I would expect this song to be played in clubs by DJs.

This album is pretty flat and apart from 2 good songs it has nothing to offer. I would still continue my mission of making people aware of new and unknown music.

review of Indru Netru Naalai (Tamil film)

I am interested in this album because this is the second album by HipHop Tamizha and I loved their first album Aambala and the song Pazhagikalaam is still one of my favourite Tamil songs and I loved the other songs such as Aye Aye and Vaa Vaa Vanilla also so I hope HipHop Tamizha produce such an album once again. Let us see if we get another addictive album from them.

Iphone 6 Nee Yendral- It starts off with a slow piano piece and then enters the nasal vocals and lots of auto-tune is used. The song becomes more addictive with the entrance of dubstep music and then reaches new heights of creativity with nadaswaram used along with drums which is a great fusion which is generally seen only in Tamil music these days and the dubstep part comes again and adds to the mood of the song. Great start from Hip Hop Tamizha once again.

Kadhale Kadhale-  It starts off with a very dreamy sound and then the vocals start with a nice absorbing melody in the background. Shankar Mahadevan sings this song pretty well and the flute has been used perfectly in this song and HipHop Tamizha show their range with this song and the song is carried well with Padmalatha who looks confident with the classical part also. Surely this song proves the talent of HipHop Tamizha.

Naane Thaane Raja-  The song starts off with a very Arabic sounding music and then some unclear vocals enter with some very peppy and foot tapping music in the background. This song may not be that good but you can give it a go for a one-time listen and the background music is foot-tapping and can be a good dance number and more of a situational track. This may be a slow poison and you may get addicted to it after multiple listens.

Indru Netru Naalai (The end of time) -  This is another version of Kadhale Kadhale and is a bit faster. I would go for the first one and this is not that impressive.

The conquest (theme)-   It is just a pleasant melody that is feel nice to the ears. Nothing so great in this instrumental so nothing much to talk about.

The album may not have a great song like Pazhagikalaam but Iphone 6 Nee Yendral comes pretty close. After they set such high standards by composing Aambaala it was always going to be difficult to maintain their quality and  I cannot say that they have produced such a quality album but have come pretty close.

My picks-   Iphone 6 Nee Yendral , Kadhale Kadhale

My rating- 3.5 starts out of 5

Music review of Dhruv Ghanekar's coke studio

Coke studio is an excellent platform for young and budding musicians to show off their talent and it has developed many singers since it has started. This episode is the 3rd this season after 2 great ones by Amit Trivedi and Sachin- Jigar. Let us see what is in store for us.

Nimoli- The song starts off with a very mysterious sound and then enters the experienced Ila Arun and then turns out to be a treat for folk music lovers and you feel instantly addicted and in love with the song and the fusion of western English rap with Rajasthani folk is surely a beautiful feeling to the ears and this song is a song I would repeat 20 times at a time. Surely one should listen to it and the frequent tara tara ta adds plenty to this great piece of music. Classsssssy!!!!!!!! is what I call this . 4 minutes and 12 seconds is too short and I am ready to listen to this for at least 10 minutes.

Birha-  It starts with a pretty gujrati folky feel and then you are directly transferred to a very African tribal environment and then a pretty folky feel once again with some western lounge music in the background constantly and then the singer starts singing in English. This song is surely a classy affair and I really loved it. The fusion is again great between Gujrati, African and Western music and the listener will surely love this song and both singers Kalpana and Sonia have done really well . I would recommend this song for all people who like different music .

Ae Rab- The song starts off with some  basic Indian classical and then begins the melody and clamness of the song and this is a type of song Papon would sing generally and is the most conventional and filmy of the 3 and people who still prefer non-folky music and want some melody will prefer this song. Master saleem with his classical singing is the best part of this song. The music becomes faster at the ending of the song and the song ends well.

This album is a very classy soundtrack and will surely go on well with people who love folk and classical music but if you enjoy dance numbers and rap, this album may not cater to your taste but surely one can give it a go.

My picks- All 3 songs

music review of ABCD 2

As ABCD 2 is a dance film, lots of music is expected and good quality music will help lift the film. After a disappointing music in the first part of ABCD, let us see if Sachin-Jigar can create magic this time.

Bezubaan Phir se-  The start of this song is pretty encouraging but as it progresses, it gets pretty tiresome and painful to the ears and Vishal Dadlani's harsh vocals do not work either. This song may look better with the dance on screen but just without the video, the song is boring and surely a disappointment.

Naach Meri Jaan - The song starts with a routine disco sound like how most bollywood dance numbers start off. Then comes Benny Dayal's immature vocals and the song crashes and really turns out to be an irritating and cringing listen. This song does not strike even one bit and surely I would skip it.

Sun Saathiyaa- This is the first song of the album that gives me some hope of listening to some good quality music. This song is a really melodious affair and one has to listen to it with lots of patience and soak oneself into the melody. The song becomes even better when Divya Kumar enters the song as he adds extra spark into this ballad. Surely this is the song you would want to listen in this album.

Vande Mataram-  The song starts off as if a primary school student is reciting a poem to his teacher. Then enters Divya Kumar again and starts singing some lines about the country and comparing it to mother. Then drum beats try to engage the listener and there is a mini rap but that actually to me takes away the initial melody the song had. This song is a complicated song and Sachin- Jigar have tried to do a lot with it and failed big time. The start was promising but over complicating things made it a pretty average number.

Chunar-  This song is actually a good song with perfect lyrics and the whole credit goes to the lyricist . The music is okay and nothing great. Just some simple tunes and instruments . I think better choice of singer rather than Arjit would be good because this is not a song Arjit would enjoy singing. It is a good song if you are looking for good lyrics but apart from that nothing special.

Happy Birthday-   Again Sachin- Jigar are trying too much to impress listeners and are making really boring and annoying songs. This song is surely a headache and I would not want to talk more about it. If you have panadol in your house then only listen to it.

Happy hour- This song sung by Mika Singh starts off with some good foot tapping music to have a dance on but after Mika enters , he just bores us and this song becomes a routine bollywood song and really shows us the poor quality of music in the movie. Just skip it and look for more quality music.

If you hold my hand- This is according to me one of the strongest songs of the album and after hearing such poor quality music till now, this song is a welcome break and surely this is the Sachin- Jigar we know. Foot tapping music and  breezy instruments are the highlights of this song which is a very calm listen and surely a good one.

Hey Ganaraya- This song is the best song of the album and Divya Kumar's vocals are a treat to listen to. Great blend of Indian Classical and Folk and is a treat for people who like classical music. This song has excellent usage of maybe dhols and the 2 minute long classical interlude in the middle is the highlight of the album and this song deserves several repeats and some awards and accolades for sure.

Tatoo- This song just is an example of music directors getting carried away and trying to make massy numbers rather than some classy music . This song is a routine boring 21st century bollywood song and just gets worse as it progresses.

This album is definitely a dud and is not one you would want to listen to. A better album would help the film's cause but this album has more bad songs than the occasional good ones. Hey Ganaraya deserves yet another mention as being a pleasant listen

My picks- Hey Ganaraya, Sun Saathiyaa, If you hold my hand

Bombay Velvet music review

This was the album I was most excited about throughout the year . There were 2 reasons for this . The main reason being it was India's first Jazz album and secondly it is none other than composed by Amit Trivedi. Let us see if the album lives up to my expectations.

Aam Hindustani- This is the first song of the album. The song starts off with a long instrumental piece made up of mainly circus sounds and it is actually as if you are watching a circus play or a comedy show and then after about 3 minutes comes the first sight of some vocals with the nasal voice of Shefali Alavres making an entry. This song is a 8 minute song and at no time you feel bored or irritated and it does not seem long even. The lyrics are apt and explains the situation of a common man in India and is surely a song one should listen to.

Kha Kha Ga-  This song according to me is the only weak song of the album or maybe not weak but surely missable song. One would not miss much in life if they skip this song. The songs kicks off with trumpet sounds that is surely a very important instrument in Jazz music. Then Neeti Mohan enters the song and shows us her versatility. She can sing such peppy songs and also the melodies. According to me, she saves this song which would be a very tiresome affair.

Dhadaam Dhadaam- This is according to me one of the best and most innovative tracks in the recent times. It starts of with a very royal tune as if you are entering a king's courtyard and then Neeti Mohan takes the song to new heights. Her vocals lift the song to a new level and Amit Trivedi has just made a classy song. A masterpiece !!!!!!!!!

Naak Pe Gussa- If you enjoyed music from black and white hindi films, you will surely enjoy this song. The main thing that catches your ears in this song is the innocence and simplicity. After hearing the typical routine Arjit Singh love numbers or the typical Honey or Mika Singh dance numbers, this song surely comes as a welcome break to the ears. Surely listen to this song and get immersed in the beautiful creation of maestro Amit Trivedi.

Sylvia-  This is one of the more pacy songs in the album and is based on a true crime story of the past. The start tune is very catchy and then after the tune you are in for a very enjoyable ride. The lyrics will take you right o the 1950s and maybe early 1960s and this song again proves why this album is a masterpiece.

Darbaan- This is my favourite song of the album and according to me the best song of the year so far. Papon is a great choice for this song as his strong and hoarse voice  gel in well with the lyrics and mood of the song. This explains the fate of one of the characters according to what I can decipher from the lyrics . The music is minimal here and Amit trivedi has kept the tune pretty simple so according to me it is Papon that is the leader of this song.

Shut Up-    This song is surely a very childish song and little kids may enjoy this song. Although some people may find it a bit annoying, I surely enjoyed it and found it very amusing. Surely not the best track but not so bad also. Listen to it at your own risk.

Behroopia-  This is the only modern song in this album and the type of songs we see in the bollywood these days but with a Amit trivedi touch in it. It is not a routine Arjit or Ankit song but surely a very different type of song. Mohit Chahaun has sung this song really well and is helped aptly by Neeti Mohan. I think this will turn out to be the most hit song of the album and will top music charts.

The album ends with 3 instrumetal pieces. These all will make sense when one watches the film but they are so good that one can just listen to them without even watching the film. Best of the 3 is surely the Bombay Velvet theme followed by Tommy gun and then Conspiracy.

This album is surely the best album of the year and surely Amit trivedi is the best composer at the moment. Even though this may not be that great as his previous works such as Dev D, Lootera, Aamir and Udaan but is surely an album that will be remembered as one of the best ever made.

My picks- Sylvia, Darbaan, Naak pe Gussa, Dhadaam Dhadaam
